Bold Reimagining of a Beloved Classic
THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK
by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett
Newly Adapted by Wendy Kesselman
September 19 - October 14, 2007 |
|
Opening our 25th Anniversary Season, San Jose Stage Company presents a story the world knows by heart: a young Jewish girl's harrowing account of hiding with her family from the Nazis in a tiny attic in Amsterdam. A striking new adaptation restores deleted passages from the diary, offering a richer look into this extraordinary young woman;s coming of age. Drawing on newly discovered material from the diary that changed the world, Kesselman's play shows Anne Frank in a more human, realistic light as we honor the 60th anniversary of its publication.

Visually Riveting Prizefighting Drama - Produced with Thick Description
BLADE TO THE HEAT
by Oliver Mayer
April 2 - 27, 2008 |
|
Bursting through the brutality and prejudice of America in 1959, Blade to the Heat captures the sensual action of boxing and music. Critics are calling this revival "dynamic" and "action-packed" with a "heavyweight cast." In this ring, where everything is a fight and life itself is the art form, the multiple conflicts of love, cultural forces, athletic glory and humiliation culminate in a series of "brilliant fight sequences, lifted high on the mambo beats and roaring crowds."
