Post-show Discussions
San Jose Stage Company is dedicated to encouraging audiences to find out more about theatre by providing special programs. Our Post-Show Discussions (which are led by the Company's Production Manager and feature the Artistic Director, Cast, Director and Designers) take place on the second Sunday and second Thursday of each production run. The Discussions are free of charge to the public. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to talk with professional theatre artists about their work!

Training for the Actor and Curious Patron of all Ages
Nearing the end of our first year, we want to thank all of the wonderful people who have helped make this program so successful!
With the Actors's Lab at San Jose Stage Company, you will have the rare opportunity to train with professional artists from around the Bay Area. Our classes will help you explore, ignite and stretch your imagination. We are also committed to helping our students enhance their creative potential and learn what it means to be a professional artist.
The Actors' Lab is committed to providing our community with outreach programs and the highest quality actor training. Come and join us and continue, or begin, your training and growth as an actor in a friendly, comfortable, professional enviroment.
The Curriculum
Scene Study: In this class, we focus on how to present a scene as if we were cast in the show and rehearsing for performance in a professional theatre. $350
Beginning/Intermediate Acting: How do we begin the process of becoming an actor? Join this dynamic class and find out. $300
The Professional Theatre for Teens: We will be focusing on what it means to be a professional actor. Guest speakers include Randall King, Artistic Director for San Jose Stage Company and Cassie Beck, Artistic Director and Casting Director for Crowded Fire. $300
Audition Intensive: Here we help you prepare for auditions in the professional theatre. $300
Stage Combat: Learn the same skills used n your favorite plays, movies and shows. $200
Introduction to Shakespeare: This is an introductory course for actors and non-actors where we investigate, in a very casual enviroment, how to play Shakespeare. $300
Performance Lab: This class is where we spend our time working on a specific production in a very casual rehearsal enviroment and ultimately present the world to a group of invited guests on our stage. $400

Educator Benefits: Group Rates & Learning Materials
Special student group discounts for regularly scheduled performances are also available. Group tickets must be reserved in advance; minimum group size is ten tickets. Arrangements can sometimes be made to have the students meet some of the cast members and/or directors following the performance. Special educational tools for specific shows are also sometimes available; outstanding study guides for Of Mice and Men and The Treasure of the Sierra Madre are available to teachers for a nominal fee.

Arts Express
San Jose Stage Company is particularly committed to encouraging students and young people interested in theatre. The Company participates in Arts Express, a program sponsored by the City of San Jose's Office of Cultural Affairs, which brings groups of students to the theatre to see special weekday performances of relevant plays. This season's selection was The Diary of Anne Frank on September 19, 2007.
